Nurse Bass
Приєднався 16 вер 2014
Hey guys! My name is Brad and welcome to my channel dedicated to aspiring nurses.
I first started this channel as a diary to document my own journey through nursing school.
But as I started releasing videos here, I quickly realized I wasn't alone.
A lot of us are going through the same struggles, having the same fears about nursing school, and
many of us even questioning whether we have what it takes to be a nurse at all!
Ever felt like an imposter in your program and surely Admissions must have made a mistake?
You are NOT alone.
The goal here is simple: Simplify nursing education & craft confidence in students and new nurses.

4 Reasons You Feel Incompetent in Nursing School
The Nclex exam is very difficult to pass, I can't believe i failed after studying with so many materials😞
Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you study you also need to pray to God for success
@ very correct
I have a cousin who never studied much, we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than her studies after writing the nclex exam last month she passed and i failed😢, i asked her how she did it, just found out she got help from Mr Richard
Please does anyone know who this Mr Richard is? I really need to speak with him I'm frustrated 🥺
Wow so sorry you failed, i have heard so much about Richard but I don't actually have his info
Do Capella or wgu. They take 3-6 months. Put you focus on a good crna school
I'm blessed.
Nurse bass I started watching you 5yrs ago when I first started my nursing journey. I now am graduated and starting my journey as I new grad icu nurse. I always kept what you say in mind at the end of your videos “one day patients lives will be in your hands.. study like it” I’ve learned so much from your videos. Thank you!
@@CHELSEABROWN-d5z so sick my friend. Congratulations on all you’ve accomplished, and if you always keep that in mind you’ll always be growing and keeping patients safe.
Same here, I'm bridging from RRT to BSRT. Not sure if I want to do clinical grad such as PA or direct entry NP, or non-clinical MBA/MPH route which I'm leaning to.
Thank you. You're a beautiful man! And smart too!
Yoooo
Can you still get a nurse job with a neck tatto :?
Can you sue the hospital if you work there and got poked by a needle left in a glove
ya heart's workin hard baby 😂❤this is gold, especially the case study notes! you rock
love this👌
never stop being you and never stop rolling content 😂❤ also congrats!!🎉
Always a subject that every single program likes to shove under the rug.
Bro I’ve been a behavioural neurology RPN in Toronto for last 5 years and my back hurts. Neck is stiff. I’m done. Also what happened with nurse nurse bro
Here are some UA-cam channels that have really helped (RegisteredNurseRN is also one of them btw😊) : - Kenhub - Dr Viren Kariya - Sam Webster - Anatomy Hero - Institute of Human Anatomy (cadaveric dissections and explanations of physiological phenomenona) - Ninja Nerd - Anatomy Standard shorts (for muscle and bones, how they articulate and move) - The Noted Anatomist - SciePro (incredible 3D models of structures and systems) - Heather Davis - Siebert Science - Professor Dave explains Physiology: - professorfink - Interactive Biology - Medicosis Perfectionalis - Ninja Nerd - Nucleus Medical Media Good apps for study anatomy include: - Anatomy Learning - Teach Me Anatomy - Teach Me Physiology Good luck 💕and hope this helps people.
In the medical field I always looked up to nurses and I always got intimidated by this profession now I am in the program to be a nurse and I don’t see myself doing anything else but that. I’ve always been a helper and look forward to caring for others. Now it will be to a whole other level of care. 😊
Can you put the link to the book so I can purchase it please and thank you
Definitely
Here to brush up on ABG
Always a good review
Thank you. I'm taking my AGACNP test on Tuesday and I needed a brush up in cardiac hemodynamics. Easy to understand and to the point.
I swear you nurse UA-camrs are literally the worst nurses in real life… This is a known fact.
I did LPN, ASN and then by BSN. I have been a nurse the same amount of time as you. The BSN part flys by and isn't difficult, just annoying. However, I did have tests and clinical I had to attend, but not terrible. I am turning 30 next month and also have aspirations to become a CRNA but now I have to go back and retake all my sciences because they are so old. Ugh, to me that's the worst part. I didn't start in ICU but jumped around and randomly worked in ICUs here and there; that's what I am mad at myself the most about. You'll do well! Enjoy the ride.
Have you confirmed the need to retake old sciences due to their age? I only ask because several Program Directors of the schools I’m considering have told me that rule doesn’t apply at their specific program. Of course I’ve looked at a few schools that do indeed require you to retake them. Just making sure that you’ve gotten confirmation from your specific programs of the need to do that. Good on you for getting after it and progressing your education all this time!
Im in the final semester of the ASN program!🎉
Congrats! You’re almost there!
Thanks for the video! I'm curious for your thoughts on when and how to set up shadowing opportunities. I'm at the *very* beginning of an ABSN program and feel like I should be starting sooner rather than later in planning the first couple of years for my (next) career.
I think it's brilliant that you want to start sooner rather than later, that's a great idea. I would recommend going ahead and setting up shadowing opportunities now if you're able to. The sooner you're able to begin shadowing/volunteering, the better. You'll begin networking with other nurse anesthetists sooner, gaining crucial insight into the career sooner, and of course having more time to gain more hours. Instead of the alternative where you wait until your ABSN program is finished, and you're basically ready to begin applying to anesthesia schools, but you're scrambling to obtain shadowing time, having much less time to network with other anesthetists, etc. Proactivity pays
I have a Ph.D. in a social science and went back to school because my teaching hours were cut (low enrollments at unis, especially after COVID). I teach at an R1 school, and I picked an ADN program because it is quick and cheap (even with credit hour discounts from my employer). Turns out that we get about double the clinical experience, too. I have taught at both CC and unis and would strongly advise just about anyone to go to a CC to save the $ if you do not have funding from the school or a scholarship of some sort. P.S., Most of the instructors, especially the clinical faculty, at the CC also teach at the local universities because they adjunct at both.
Thank god my community college did academic forgiveness for returning college students if they havent taken classes in 5 years. Scrubbed all my Fs and Ds from my transcripts greatly improving my gpa. Graduating with my adn / from college 14 years after taking my first class at the college this december. Im a straight A student and college tutor now
Thanks Nurse B, you’re a natural!💕🙏🏽😂
Thank you❤❤❤❤❤
I am super Hesitant to start a journey into nursing because i don't want to be stuck with a massive debt because I had a bad semester or class. I seen people get kicked out for landing just under the GPA threshold.
Some of the reviews for the ICU Book online suggested its needs to be updated for current practices. Did you notice that when reading?
Incredibly helpful video. Thank you sir.
You're very welcome buddy. Glad it helped!
Man, your video is 8 y.o. but even today it's totally valid. I study nursing in Finland and the evaluation system steals students motivation a lot.
Yeah, it's a time-tested truth. I'm sorry to hear about the demotivating evaluation system over there. At the end of the day, the knowledge to care for your future patients is most important :D
Not a nurse but as a laboratory scientist on my first week of rotations . And overall I guess my Preceptor is a nice human but horrible teacher . She just tells me to do a procedure without explaining or giving me a overview of her doing it first and wait for me to do something wrong to talk down as she explains the correct way (with words never a physical demonstration) and it was always followed by telling me no matter where I go i have to do it correctly . Whatever that means
Nurse Bass! Damn I’ve been following you probably since the beginning. I found you when I was trying to figure out what to go to school for. I ended up going for teaching, then switched to an English degree. 2 kids and one divorce later, I finally graduated last summer and got an amazing job as an internet marketer. So different than anything I ever pictured, but I DID IT! Your videos and good attitude helped me know it’s ok to start over in your 20s/30s/any age. Thank you 😊
That's so awesome that despite not pursuing a career in nursing that you still stuck around the channel and took benefit. I'm so glad to hear that you accomplished your goals with an English degree and landed such a unique job with satisfaction. That's what it's all about my friend <3
Man I'm feeling the energy and excitement in your voice. So happy your on this new journey. Great advice
Heck yeah buddy, I'm pumped :D I appreciate you!
I hope you’re ready to take some High Quality Notes™️ on Friday. 😎 Gonna be a great one!
Hah aye, ima have 3 pens ready!
I've been an ASN RN in CVICU for the last year and few months (started as a new grad). Also been a paramedic and critical care paramedic for almost 10 years. There is a lot of experience that people can have without having a piece of paper saying they're a BSN RN.
No doubt my friend!
Broken down nicely. Thank you.
You're so welcome! Best of luck!
That's an awesome idea! Thank you so much for sharing!
You’re very welcome!
With all due respect, the choice of AA vs BSN comes down to the grades, you don’t have the grades get in where you can. BSNS are better prepared, I’ve worked with a lot of different nurses and you can definitely differentiate the ones who excelled vs the ones that barely made it, but of course it’s all about who you know and you can absolutely move along sooner than a better prepared nurse if your a good bullshitter and kiss ass. Get your BSN man keep it up
There are a lot of reasons someone would choose an ADN program first; it does not necessarily have anything to do with grades.
LOVE the intro! Haha So sorry about your parents. 😢
Haha aye I appreciate it!
Associate degree nurses just have less experience writing essays about leadership and healthcare disparities. 😅 Stay strong during the monotony!
😂 I’ll do my best!
Have it in the morning super nervous thanks man 😊
You’re very welcome! Best of luck to you!
Thank you nurse Bass for all the education videos. You awesome 👏
Hey you’re so welcome! I’m glad they’ve been beneficial!
Just tell people you have a BSN fuck em that’s what I do lmao
That’s funny, but that doesn’t fly in anesthesia applications lol
Getting the ADN 1st is the smart move and will forever be the best way to go about becoming an RN IMO.
Whatever works!
I definitely see where your coming from. I waited five years to transition from LPN to RN because I didn't want to retake some of the a&ps they required. So glad I finally got off my high horse and now I'm a RN. Good luck and would love to hear more about your bsn journey. I'm on that path also.
I appreciate hearing how I’m not alone on my high horse haha. Yeah I will be very happy once it’s all done and I can say I did it. Now it’ll just take awhile for me to stop kicking myself in the rear for waiting so long lol
